Top 9 Features of Adobe’s Creative Suite 4

on November 6th, 2008 by W. J. Rice

Industry leader, Adobe Software, recently released the newest iteration of it’s Creative Suite - CS4. Same familiar faces, but this time the features are more impressive. Not much has happened since Adobe absorbed Macromedia’s product line, until now. It’s transforming Dreamweaver and Fireworks into much better programs with all the new features they’ve added. They’ve increased cross-program functionality to the point of destroying any possible competition. Is this a monopoly now?

Top 9 Features, straight from the mouth of Adobe

1. Photoshop Extended
“Now paint directly on 3D models, wrap 2D images around 3D shapes, convert gradient maps to 3D objects, add depth to layers and text, get print-quality output with the new ray-tracing rendering engine, and enjoy exporting to supported common 3D formats.”
More

2. Flash
“Gain complete control over individual animation attributes with object-based animation, which applies tweens directly to objects instead of to keyframes. Easily make changes to motion with Bezier handles.”
More

3. InDesign
“Preflight while you design. Continuous preflighting alerts you to potential production problems in real time so you can quickly navigate to a problem, fix it directly in layout, and keep working.”
More

4. After Effects
“Import 3D models from Adobe® Photoshop® CS4 into Adobe After Effects® CS4 to composite them with other elements, and more.”
More

5. Dreamweaver
“Design your web pages under real-world browser conditions with the new Live View in Adobe® Dreamweaver® CS4 — while still retaining direct access to the code. Changes to the code are instantly reflected in the rendered display.”
More

6. Premiere
“Easily add metadata to clips both on set with Adobe® OnLocation™ software and while editing using Adobe Premiere® Pro, for greater project intelligence. Use speech recognition technology to create text-based metadata to help you organize your assets more efficiently. Pass the metadata through export for web publishing, enabling searchable video and helping to unlock new revenue streams.”
More

7. Illustrator
“Create files containing up to 100 artboards of varying sizes and display them any way you want — overlapping, side by side, or stacked. Save, export, and print artboards independently or together. Save a selected range or all artboards as a multipage PDF file.”
More

8. Fireworks
“Create your Adobe® AIR™ prototype directly within Adobe Fireworks®, ready to be deployed to HTML and CSS, Adobe Flex®, or SWF. Easily convert your click-through mock-up.”
More

9. Acrobat
“Assemble layouts, drawings, images, video, audio, and other files into a single dynamic PDF Portfolio with files preserved in their original formats or as PDF files. Customize the PDF Portfolio interface using professionally designed templates and interactive navigation based on Adobe® Flash® technology.
