Why Warcraft is WarCrack: Addicted to World of Warcraft

World of Warcraft aka World of Warcrack

Have you ever played a game for more than 20 hours in one sitting?
Skipped work, class or your own wedding to play a game?

A small percentage of gamers can’t say no to these questions. Blizzard’s clearly (too) talented team of developers have subjected our weaker minded peers to a powerfully addictive online world.

So what makes World of Warcraft so addictive? It is easily the most addictive game I have played since Diablo, with some large differences. The online community, the self-sustaining economy, the damn near everything was done in such a way it mimicked real life. It’s not hard for me to see how people would get so engulfed in it. There are so many gamers with no life and no real outside friends. This was their safe haven, their escape into a fantasy realm where they could finally be the strongest, fastest, and the most popular people.

The stories of how the WarCrack addicition has effected people is staggering:

There are tons of articles from 2006 when the phenomena received a large amount of publicity. Do a search and be scared for them.

Were you ever addicted? Or know someone?
